Where were you?

Ok I know, I haven't been around the Gab much these past couple of weeks

but

This post isn't directed at any of my friends here at the Gab,

There was a recent election in my city in ward 6 for an open school committee seat. The ward has approx 4200 registered voters. Last Tuesday 212 of those voters took the 15 to 20 minutes it takes, including drive time...to cast their vote and thus fulfill their civic duty, give honor to the right of voting in a free society, give honor to the brave people that fought to establish liberty in this great nation and give honor to the men and woman who have lost there lives fighting to maintain that freedom and liberty that most in this world don't have.

The two gentlemen running worked hard canvassing the neighborhoods, talking to residents and trying to get the vote out. their reward: the winner got 112 votes!

To the other 211 besides myself that took this seriously I say thank you.

but...to the other 3900 plus of my neighbors I ask, WHERE WERE YOU?

I'm sure some of you had valid excuses, work late, kids had activities, illness etc. that's part of life....but how many had no excuse? WHERE WERE YOU? don't like to vote or don't like either candidate, or don't have kids in the public school so you don't care

by the way, weather or not you have kids in the public schools, a very large part of your property taxes go to the school system, your dollars at work, you should care, it's your duty to care.
so, WHERE WERE YOU?

I don't care weather you like or voted for the current administration, I don't care that you're frustrated with the current economy....who isn't?

I do care that YOU don't care that we have FREEDOM and it came at a high price....and that future FREEDOM is not a sure thing.
I do care that the apathy towards a minor election is just a microcosm of what's to come if you continue to be so selfishly hung up on your own little life to think participating in YOUR country's FREEDOMS are not important. We are citizens of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
start taking it to heart,
it's your Nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!
