As I sat here watching the closing minutes of Sunday Night Football, once again, for about the 50^th time today I’ve heard about the “play” last week in the Pats game. It was beat to death in pre-game at noon, it was rehashed at 4, it was covered on NBS at 8 pm with Rodney Harrison giving his unvarnished opinion, and so on, enough already.

What’s pissing me off is I’m hearing it still and the Patriots played, kicked the crap out of the Jets, but that’s not what Michaels and Collinsworth can mention, oh hell no. Let’s see if I can come up with just a couple of other league goings on they could have covered. Hmmm, this is tough. Umm, oh yeah, America’s team scored ONE TD in two weeks, and waited to do it at about the 4 minute mark of the fourth quarter, at home against the REDSKINS!!! That’s right, the “boys” had another tough time in that monstrosity they call home and couldn’t barely put the ‘skins’ away, who losts Betts, were without Cooley, Portis and Haynesworth. I had no idea that Washington in reality was such a scary team. Or is it that the Cowboys SUCK??? You tell me, is Tony Romo awful or what? About the only thing offensive with this team is Jerry Jones not having fired Weebles Phillips yet?

Next up, Cincy loses to the RAIDERS…yeah you heard me right. The Bungles can’t close against this disaster? Pittsburgh lost, they have the chance to gain on them but merely a blip about that. In the meantime, 3-4 more sound bites about the “play” come up. And yup, Pittsburgh, they too LOST! To who? Kansas City. Didn’t hear too much yet about that one either, but I did get to hear about Belichick at the evening halftime again. Then, we have the excitement that IS the Detroit Lions! How about that game? Caught a bit of highlight reel of that game, but not before Tony Dungy went into his two minute drill on what the Pats should have done, why there might have been confusion, (because he was on the Pats sidelines wearing a headset) and tossing us his 30 cents worth of analysis.

But my day started out wanting to throw the remote through the TV set. The biggest Pats hater on the pre-game shows, Tom Jackson, had all kinds of shit to say. Like how the Pats aren’t in the elite (raising his hands over his head, they’re not here) he goes on how they lost to the Jets in week one. Okay, Brady’s first game back after missing a full season, Welker was out and how many other guys along with him, I can’t think back that far, but no grace, they suck. Well who needs to break out the Kleenex after today’s game? Yup, Cryin Ryan! Hey Jackson, here’s a tip for you, SHUT THE FUCK UP! We know you never pick New England to win, FINE, I can live with it, but when you keep going against them it’s funny how the boys around you don’t make you eat crow. Well here, eat this! Lord have mercy, does this shit ever stop? I mean, I can take criticism, I really can. But when it goes on and on over one thing, it seems that it was bad as a doctor losing a patient on the table. It’s not the end of the world people, it really isn’t. If anything, the Patriots have demonstrated a few times that they thrive on adversity, but they won’t get a pass there either.

I guess until there's actually something newsworthy in the NFL we'll continue to hear about the Patriots and going for it on 4th down instead of punting. At this point, I'll live with it if I have too, I've vented. But can everyone else live with it, or move on remains to be seen.
